Carla Gutiérrez

Carla Gutiérrez is an Emmy-winning and Eddie-nominated documentary filmmaker. Her directorial debut FRIDA, about iconic Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, premiered at Sundance 2024 where it won the prestigious Jonathan Oppenheim Award for Best Editing. FRIDA was shortlisted for the Academy Awards, received nominations for the Critics Choice, IDA, Cinema Eye, and NAACP awards, and won a News and Documentary Emmy for Best Director. FRIDA is an Amazon MGM Studios original and is currently streaming on Prime Video. Carla's work as an editor includes the Oscar-nominated films RBG (CNN Films), about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and LA CORONA (HBO), about a beauty pageant in the largest female prison in Colombia. She edited JULIA, about renowned chef and television personality Julia Child (Telluride, TIFF, CNN Films), and PRAY AWAY (Tribeca, Telluride, Netflix Original). Carla's work has received awards at Sundance, Tribeca, Berlinale, Outfest, the Critics Choice Awards, the National Board of Review, and the DuPont Columbia Awards. Carla has been a creative adviser for the Sundance Edit Lab and a mentor for Firelight, the Karen Schmeer Program, and the Tribeca Film Fellows. She is a member of AMPAS and ACE, and earned a Master’s in Documentary Film from Stanford University.

Kristofer Ríos
Kristofer Ríos

Kristofer Ríos is an Emmy award-winning filmmaker and journalist. His work centers on underrepresented narratives; specifically those obscured, ignored, or forgotten. Most recently, Kristofer produced KAROL G: TOMORROW WAS BEAUTIFUL (Netflix) about the Colombian reggaeton star and was the co-director and co-executive producer of MENUDO: FOREVER YOUNG (HBO Max), a four-part investigative documentary series about the rise and fall of the Puerto Rican boy band Menudo. He also produced the Emmy-winning documentary series SCIENCE FAIR: THE SERIES (National Geographic), a three-part documentary series following teenagers as they compete for the most prestigious prize in high school science competitions. Kristofer was a producer with ABC News Nightline where he worked on longform and documentary features for the nightly news show. He was a lead producer on ASYLUM (Hulu) for ABC News Documentaries; a film about two fathers from Honduras seeking refuge in the U.S. Kristofer's work has been recognized by the GLADD Media Awards, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, and the Edward R. Murrow Awards. He is a 2023 Nieman Fellow at Harvard University and has a Master of Science in Journalism from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.

Katia Maguire
Katia Maguire

Katia Maguire is an Emmy nominated documentary producer and director. Most recently she produced FRIDA, the Emmy award-winning documentary about Frida Kahlo that was short-listed for the 2024 Best Documentary Oscar. She was post-production supervisor on the Oscar-nominated documentary RBG, about Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Her longtime association with public television includes co-directing the PBS film HOME TRUTH, a ten-year longitudinal film about a Latina domestic violence survivor and human rights advocate. Other work for PBS includes producing the feature documentaries KINGDOM OF SHADOWS and THE GRADUATES/LOS GRADUADOS and serving as a senior associate producer on the documentary series WOMEN, WAR & PEACE. Katia produced for veteran journalist Bill Moyers on several of his weekly public affairs television programs and podcasts. She was an associate producer on QUEST FOR HONOR, a documentary about violence against women in Iraq that was short-listed for the 2010 Academy Awards. She began her career at PBS' award-winning documentary series American Masters.
