Matt Kay

Matt Kay is a two-time Emmy-nominated filmmaker whose character-driven documentaries focus on intimate storytelling with global relevance. His work spans a wide range of subjects, from the injustices of the U.S. death row system to the barriers facing women in Japan’s male-only professional sumo world. He recently directed Andrew Young: The Dirty Work for MSNBC, a feature-length documentary examining the life and legacy of the civil rights icon and diplomat, executive produced by Rachel Maddow. This follows two years spent filming closely with seven-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton for a major Apple Original Films feature scheduled for global release in 2026. His filmography also includes Hulu’s To Live and Die in Alabama, which earned a Documentary Emmy nomination in 2022, and TLC Forever, which reached audiences of several million on A&E and Netflix. His most recent series, Shark Beach with Anthony Mackie for National Geographic, received two Daytime Emmy nominations in 2025. Beyond broadcast, Matt’s work has had demonstrable real-world impact: his award-winning Netflix short Little Miss Sumo and feature documentary Over the Wall have been cited in legislative discussions and are used internationally as educational resources. His films have screened at over 50 festivals worldwide and have won multiple festival awards.

Andrew Carver is a Producer with over 15 years of experience working on projects in more than 40 countries worldwide. His award-winning work focuses on socially impactful, character-led storytelling and has screened at top international festivals including Tribeca, DOC NYC, BFI London Film Festival, Sydney Film Festival, and Sheffield Doc Fest, as well as on Netflix, BBC, Sky and WaterBear Network. Andrew is currently working with director Matt Kay on 2 feature documentary projects through production company Walks of Life Films.

Geoff Martz is a 5-time Emmy Award-winning producer. He left ABC in 2018 to co-found One Story Up with Roger Ross Williams. Since then, One Story Up has produced two limited series (THE INNOCENCE FILES and HIGH ON THE HOG) for Netflix, as well as a feature for HBO (BETWEEN THE WORLD AND ME) based on the book by Ta-Nehisi Coates, a series for Topic that features short films by under-represented filmmakers, a 6-part series for Hulu/Disney (THE 1619 PROJECT) based on the New York Times series by Nikole Hannah-Jones, two doc features for Netflix (STAMPED FROM THE BEGINNING and CIVIL: BEN CRUMP), a doc feature for A&E and Lifetime (TLC Forever), as well as a limited series for Apple TV+ (THE SUPER MODELS), and MASTER OF LIGHT, a doc feature (now airing on HBO) that won SXSW, the San Francisco Film Festival, and Sheffield. Geoff has won 3 Edward R. Murrow awards, 2 Peabodys, and a Gracie.

Roger Ross Williams is an Oscar, Emmy, Peabody, and NAACP Image award-winning director, producer, and writer –and the first African American director to win an Academy Award ®, with his film MUSIC BY PRUDENCE. Williams directed LIFE, ANIMATED, which won him the Sundance Directing Award, and was nominated for an Academy Award ® and won three Emmys. Williams is the recipient of the Career Achievement Award from the International Documentary Association, The Woodstock Film Festival Maverick Award, The NYU Alumni Achievement Award, and an honorary doctorate from Lafayette College. His production company One Story Up produced the acclaimed food series HIGH ON THE HOG, an adaptation of Ta-Nehisi Coates's BETWEEN THE WORLD AND ME, the Ben Crump documentary CIVIL, the award-winning film MASTER OF LIGHT, and the Primetime Emmy award-winning feature documentary THE APOLLO. Williams' first scripted feature CASSANDRO from Amazon Prime Video had its World premiere at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival to universal acclaim. He also released THE SUPERMODELS for Apple TV+, STAMPED FROM THE BEGINNING, based on the book by Ibram X. Kendi, for Netflix, and the Emmy award-winning series THE 1619 PROJECT for Disney/Hulu.
