About the Filmmakers
Shirley Abraham is a Cannes-award winning Indian documentary film maker. Her work is supported by MacArthur Foundation, Sundance Institute, New York Times, BBC, Bertha Foundation, Filmmaker Fund and Catapult Film Fund. She is a fellow of Sundance Labs, Cluster of Excellence Heidelberg, Stories of Change, BBC, TasveerGhar, India Foundation for the Arts and Goethe-Institut. She was one of seven directors selected from Asia to direct a film for Al Jazeera English’s flagship strand, ViewFinder Asia.
Amit Madheshiya is a Cannes award winning, internationally acclaimed photographer and filmmaker. His photographs from the Travelling Cinema project won the World Press Photo in 2011, World Photography Award in 2009 and 2011 and Grand Prize at the Humanity Photo Awards in 2009. Amit Madheshiya is a fellow of the Sundance Institute, MacArthur Foundation, Bertha Foundation, BBC, Goethe Institut, India Foundation for the Arts, Arts Council England, National Foundation of India and the University of Heidelberg.
