In recent years, states have passed a record-breaking number of laws aimed at restricting access to abortion. If enacted, these laws will substantially reduce the number of licensed abortion clinics in the United States. TRAPPED tracks the progress of two Southern abortion clinics —Reproductive Health Services of Montgomery in Montgomery, Alabama and the Jackson’s Women Health Organization in Jackson, Mississippi — as they struggle to stay open in the face of an increasingly hostile legal and political climate.

The film revolves around each clinic’s efforts to serve low-income women.  Although the clinics are physically hundreds of miles apart, they not only share a common mission, they share a physician — one of the few doctors who is willing to perform abortions in the deep south, Chicago Physician Dr. Willie Parker.
